J&J Celebrates 95 Years of Service, Partnerships and Community Support!

The family of J&J companies (“J&J” or the “Company”) is proud to announce the celebration of its 95th year of operation. Since its inception in 1929, J&J has been committed to acting with integrity, providing service excellence, fostering partnerships, and supporting its communities. This year marks an important milestone and transformational time in the history of the Company.

Founded in 1929 as J&J Music by Lawrence Jansen whose brother Harold “Jack” Jansen joined soon after its beginning, the Company was primarily a jukebox operator. The Company expanded its offerings to partner businesses including adding vending services in the 1960’s, pinball and video games in the 1970’s, and dart machines, pool tables, and ATMs since then.

In 2010, J&J Gaming was started by Jim Jansen, Kay Jansen, Jack Jansen and Bob Willenborg to expand into the distributed gaming market. J&J Gaming became one of the first licensed Terminal Operators in Illinois under the Illinois Video Gaming Act in 2012. Since that time, the Company has grown its distributed gaming business organically and through acquisition. The video gaming business was a perfect match with J&J’s jukebox, vending and amusement roots.

In 2019, J&J partnered with Oaktree Capital Management, a leading investment manager with $170 billion in assets under management as of December 31, 2022. Oaktree, through key strategic and tactical initiatives, accelerated the Company’s momentum allowing it to make 13 acquisitions, grow revenue 3.5 times, and expand into new jurisdictions.

Recently, affiliates of J&J completed the acquisition of distributed gaming operations in Montana and Nevada. With these acquisitions, J&J has grown its footprint to operations in 29 regional offices across 9 states, in more than 4,400 partner locations, with more than 32,000 machines, and 1,400 employees throughout the United States.
